• Check for a stored DTC, and check for loose
connectors.
• Inspect the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid
valve C body gasket for w e a r and damage. If the
A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C is
stuck, inspect the CPC valves.
Torque converter
clutch does not
engage

• Check for a stored DTC, and check for loose
connectors.
• Inspect the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid
valve C body gasket for w e a r and damage. If the
A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C is
stuck, inspect the CPC valves.
A/T gear position
indicator does not
indicate shift lever

Transmission range switch
defective or out of adjustment

• Check for a stored DTC, and check for loose
connectors.
• Inspect the transmission range switch. If the
transmission range switch is faulty, replace it. If
the transmission range switch is out of
adjustment, adjust it and the shift cable.
• Check for a loose shift cable at the shift lever and
the transmission control lever.
Speedometer and
o d o m e t e r do not
w o r k
Output shaft (countershaft) speed
sensor defective
Check for a stored DTC, and check for loose
connectors.
Engine does not
rev to high r p m ,
and the
transmission
upshifts at low r p m
(engine at normal
operating

VCM system malfunction
• Check the engine rocker arms.
• Check the VCM system for proper operation
(see page 11-267).
