19. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
20. Reconnect the engine m o u n t control unit 20P
connector.
21. Disconnect the active noise control (ANC) unit 16P
connector.
22. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
23. Do the VTEC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU w i t h
the HDS.
24. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P2649
indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 33.
NO—Replace the active noise control (ANC) unit
(see page 23-76), then go to step 26.
25. Replace the VTEC solenoid valve (see page 11-280).
26. Reconnect all connectors.
27. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
28. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
29. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see page 11-340).
30. Do the VTEC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU w i t h
the HDS.
31. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Are any Temporary
DTCs
or DTCs
indicated?
Y E S —If DTC P2649 is indicated, check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the VTEC
solenoid valve and the PCM, then go to step 1. If
any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated,
go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
N O — G o t o step 32.
32. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2649 in the
DTCs MENU w i t h the HDS.
Does the screen
indicate
PASSED?
Y E S — T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g is c o m p l e t e . •
NO—If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the VTEC
solenoid valve and the PCM, then go to step 1. If
the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step
30 and recheck.
33. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest
software, or substitute a known-good PCM
(see page 11-6).
34. Do the VTEC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with
the HDS.
35. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Are any Temporary
DTCs
or DTCs
indicated?
Y E S — I f DTC P2649 is indicated, check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the VTEC
solenoid valve and the PCM, then go to step 1. If
any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated,
go to the indicated D T C s troubleshooting.
NO—If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is
complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the
original PCM (see page 1 1 - 2 1 9 ) . •
