14. Measure the voltage between PCM connector
terminals E13 and A3 or D16, in all positions other
than R.

Is there battery voltage?
Y E S — G o t o step 20.
N O — G o t o step 15.
15. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
16. J u m p the SCS line w i t h the HDS.
17. Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).
18. Disconnect the transmission range switch
connector.
19. Check for continuity between PCM connector
t e r m i n a l E13 and body g r o u n d .

Is there continuity?
YES—Repair a short in the w i r e between PCM
connector terminal E13 and the transmission range
s w i t c h , then go to step 56.
N O — U p d a t e the PCM if it does not have the latest
software, or substitute a k n o w n - g o o d PCM
(see page 14-7), then recheck. If the s y m p t o m /
indication goes away w i t h a k n o w n - g o o d PCM,
replace the original PCM. •
