DTC P0133: Rear A/F Sensor (Bank 1,
Sensor 1) Slow Response
DTC P0153: Front A/F Sensor (Bank 2,
Sensor 1) Slow Response
NOTE:
• If DTC P0139 and/or P0159* is stored at the same t i m e
as DTC P0133 and/or P 0 1 5 3 \ troubleshoot DTC P0139
and/or P0159* first, then recheck for DTC P0133 and/
o r P 0 1 5 3 \
• Information marked w i t h an asterisk (*) applies to the
front bank.
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
3. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at
3,000 rpm w i t h t o u t load (in Park or neutral) until the
radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
4. Test-drive under these conditions:
• Engine coolant temperature above 176 °F (80 °C)
• Transmission in D position
• Drive the vehicle speed at 25 m p h (40 km/h) or
less for 5 minutes, then drive at steady speed
between 26 m p h (41 km/h) and 81 m p h
(130 km/h)
5. M o n i t o r the OBD STATUS for DTC P0133 and/or
P0153* in the DTCs MENU w i t h the HDS.
Does the screen
indicate
FAILED?
Y E S — G o t o step 6.
NO—If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent
failure, system is OK at this t i m e . Check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor
(Sensor 1) and the PCM. If the screen indicates
EXECUTING, keep driving until a result comes on. If
the screen indicates OUT OF CONDITION, go to
step 3 and recheck.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Replace the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) (see page
11-213).
8. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
9. Reset the PCM w i t h the HDS.
10. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see page 11-340).
11. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at
3,000 r p m w i t h o u t load (in Park or neutral) until the
radiator fan comes o n , then let it idle.
12. Test-drive under these conditions:
• Engine coolant temperature above 176 °F (80 °C)
• Transmission in D position
• Drive the vehicle speed at 25 m p h (40 km/h) or
less for 5 minutes, then drive at steady speed
between 26 m p h (41 km/h) and 81 m p h
(130 km/h)
13. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Are any Temporary
DTCs
or DTCs
indicated?
Y E S - l f DTC P0133 and/or P0153* is indicated,
check for poor connections or loose terminals at
the A/F sensor (Sensor 1) and the PCM, then go to
step 1. If any other T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs are
indicated, go to the indicated D T C s
t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g .
NO—Go to step 14.
14. M o n i t o r the OBD STATUS for DTC P0133 and/or
P0153* in the DTCs MENU w i t h the HDS.
Does the screen
indicate
PASSED?
Y E S — T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g is c o m p l e t e . *
NO—If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor
(Sensor 1) and the PCM, then go to step 1. If the
screen indicates EXECUTING, keep d r i v i n g until a
result comes on. If the screen indicates OUT OF
CONDITION, go to step 11 and recheck.
