DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (cont'd)
8. Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).
9. Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7
and body g r o u n d .

Is there continuity?
Y E S — R e p a i r short to g r o u n d in the w i r e between
DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (E14). After
repairing the w i r e , check for a DTC w i t h the HDS
and go to the indicated D T C s t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g . •
NO—Go to step 10.
10. Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7
and PCM connector t e r m i n a l E14.

Is there continuity?
Y E S — U p d a t e the PCM if it does not have the latest
software, or substitute a k n o w n - g o o d PCM
(see page 11-6), then recheck. If the s y m p t o m /
indication goes away w i t h a k n o w n - g o o d PCM,
replace the original PCM (see page 11-219). •
NO—Repair open in the w i r e between DLC terminal
No. 7 and the PCM (E14). After repairing the w i r e ,
check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS
and go to the indicated D T C s t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g . •
11. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
12. J u m p the SCS line w i t h the HDS.
13. Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).
14. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
15. Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and
No. 7.

Is there OV?
Y E S — U p d a t e the PCM if it does not have the latest
software, or substitute a k n o w n - g o o d PCM
(see page 11-6), then recheck. If the s y m p t o m /
indication goes away w i t h a k n o w n - g o o d PCM,
replace the original PCM (see page 1 1 - 2 1 9 ) . •
NO—Repair short to power in the w i r e between
DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (E14). After
repairing the w i r e , check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or
DTCs w i t h the HDS, and go to the indicated D T C s
t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g . •
