Reading DTC with the MIL
Turn the ig n ition sw itch to OFF.
Remove the main seat (page 3-4).
Remove th e d u m m y connector and short DLC te rm i­
nals using the special to o l.
TOOL:
SCS connector
CONNECTION: Brown - Green/yellow
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch to ON, read, note the MIL
blinks and refer to the tro u b le sh o o tin g index (page
6-14).
NOTE:
If llit; ECM lias any DTC in its m em ory, the M IL w ill
start blinking.

CLEARING DTC

Connect the HDS Pocket Tester to the DLC (page 6-12).
Clear the DTC w ith the HDS w h ile the engine is stopped.
To clear the DTC w ith o u t HDS, refer to the fo llo w in g procedure.

NOTE:
• The DLC must be ju m p e d w h ile the M IL lights. If not, the M IL w ill n o t start blinking.
• Note th a t the self-diagnostic m em ory cannot be erased if the ig n itio n sw itch is tu rn e d "O FF" before
the MIL starts blinking.

CIRCUIT INSPECTION

INSPECTION AT ECM CONNECTOR

• A lw ays clean around and keep any fo re ig n m ate­
rial away from the ECM connector before discon­
necting it.
• A fa u lty PGM-FI system is often related to poorly
connected or corroded connections. Check those
connections before proceeding.
• In testing at ECM connector (w ire harness side)
te rm in a l, always use the test prove. Insert the
test prove into the connector te rm in a l, then
attach the digital m u ltim e te r probe to the test
probe.
