SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
Removing the radiator cap w hile the engine is h o t can a llo w the coolant to spray out, seriously scalding you.
Always let the engine and radiator cool dow n before rem oving the radiator cap.
• If any coolant gets in y o u r eyes, rinse them w ith w ater and consult a physician im m ediately.
• If any coolant is sw allow ed, induce v o m itin g , gargle and consult a physician im m ediately.
• If any coolant gets on yo u r skin o r clothes, rinse th o ro u g h ly w ith plenty o f water.
NOTICE
Using coolant w ith silicate corrosion in h ib ito rs m a v cause prem ature w ear o f w ate r p u m p seals or blockage o f rad ia tor
passages. Using tap w ater m ay cause engine damage.
• Add coolant at the reserve tank. Do not rem ove the radiator cap except to re fill o r drain the system.
• All cooling system service can be done w ith the engine in the frame.
• Avoid spilling coolant on painted surfaces.
• After servicing the system , check fo r leaks w ith a cooling system tester.
• Refer to the ECT sensor inspection (page 22-16)
