Pinion Gear Removal - Honda NSA700A DN-1 2009 Service Manual

Heat the gear case cover to 80°C (176°F) evenly
Be sure to wear
using a heat gun.

Do not use a torch to heat the gear case cover; it
may cause warping.
Tap the gear case lightly and remove the bearing.
If the bearing rem ained on the ring gear, rem ove it
as fo llo w s:
Remove the ring gear bearing using a commercially
available bearing puller.
Select the replacement shim (page 14-10).

PINION GEAR REMOVAL

Hold the gear case in a vise with soft jaws.
Hold the pinion jo in t and remove the pinion joint
nut using the special tools.

Pinion holder attachment
Remove the pinion joint.
