CAMSHAFT OIL CLEARANCE

C lean o ff a n y oil fro m th e jo u rn a ls o f th e cam shaft
h olders, cylin d e r head an d ca m s h a ft.
Put th e c a m s h a ft o n to th e c y lin d e r head and lay a
strip o f p la s tig a u g e le n g th w is e on each cam shaft
jo u rn a l.
NOTE:
• Do n o t block any oil holes w ith th e p lastig aug e.
• Do n o t ro ta te th e c a m s h a ft d u rin g in spection.
C a re fu lly install th e c a m s h a ft h o ld e r as s e m b ly and
tig h te n th e c a m sh aft h o ld e r nuts and bolts to the
s p ecified to rq u e in a crisscross p a ttern in several
steps.
TORQUE: 23 N m (2.3 kgf-m, 17 Ibf ft)
R e m o v e th e ca m s h a ft h o ld e r an d
w id th o f each p lastig aug e.
T h e w id e s t thickness d e te rm in e s th e oil clearance.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.10 mm (0.004 in)
W h e n th e service lim it is e x c e e d e d , rep lace th e c a m ­
s h aft and recheck th e oil clearance.
R eplace th e cylin der head an d c a m s h a ft h o ld e r if
th e c learan ce still exceed s th e service lim it.
