Coat new O-rings w ith engine oil and install them to
the neutral/clutch shaft.
Install the N/D clutch shaft and O-rings.
Apply engine oil to a new needle bearing.
Install the washer and needle bearing.
Install the secondary gear, washer and snap ring to
the N/D clutch assembly.
CLUTCH INITIAL CLEARANCE
Assemble the N/D clutch.
Inspect the clearance between the end plate and
clutch disc of top as following:
Set a dial indicator on the end plate at bottom posi­
tion.
Lift the end plate to the stopper ring.
Measure the clearance and record it.
Repeat this procedure three times of shift the mea­
surement point at 120°.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.7 - 0.9 mm (0.03 - 0.04 in)
If the difference in measurements exceed the ser­
vice lim it, replace the end plate as follows.
