1. ECT Sensor System Inspection
Turn the ig n itio n switch ON and engine stop
sw itch "O".
Check the ECT sensor w ith the HDS pocket
tester.
Is a b o u t 0 V in d ic a te d ?
NO
YES
2. ECT Sensor Inspection
Remove the rig h t fro n t side cow l (page 3 5).
Turn the ig n itio n switch OFF.
Disconnect the ECT sensor 3P (Gray) connector.
Turn the ig n itio n switch ON and engine stop
sw itch "O".
Check the ECT sensor w ith the HDS pocket
tester.
Is a b o u t 0 V in d ica te d ?
NO
YES
3. ECT Sensor Resistance Inspection
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch OFF.
Measure the resistance at the ECT sensor te rm i­
nals.
CONNECTION: Pink/white - Green/orange
STANDARD:
Is th e resistance w ith in 2.3 - 2 . 6 kQ?
YES
No
4. ECT Sensor Short Circuit Inspection
Disconnect the ECM 33P connector fro m the
m odule (page 6-8).
Check fo r c o n tin u ity between the ECT sensor 3P
(Gray) connector o f the w ire harness side and
ground.
CONNECTION: Pink/white - Ground
Is the re c o n tin u ity ?
YES
NO

- Interm ittent failure.
- GO TO STEP 2
- GO TO STEP 3.
- GO TO STEP 4.
2.3 - 2.6 k£2 (20°C/68Q F)
- Replace the ECM w ith a new one, and
recheck.
- Faulty ECT sensor.
- S hort circ u it in Pink/W hite w ire.
- Replace the ECM w ith a new one, and
recheck.
