DeIivery.of both AC and DC power at the same time is NOT recommended because
of line-drop, voltage regulation, and overload complications. If both systems
MUST be used simultaneously, observe the following rules and precautions.
Place DC current limiting switch in OFF position.
This will eliminate the
soft-start feature of the T-R, but will prevent AC voltage from dropping low
enough to trip the AC load contactor.
Line-drop compensation on the T-R must be REDUCED or turned DOWN completely
to prevent the AC load contactor from being opened by an overvoltage condition.
Readjust AC line-drop compensation using cable length and cable size compensa-
tion rheostats (see 2-3; Fig. 6, items 2 and 3), so that AC voltage (as indicated
on the voltmeter) does not exceed 118 V AC when the DC load is 500 amps.
