Genera I
These instructions
cover special
and recommended procedures
for overhaul
of electrical
components
of the generator
set.
2.
Generator
Control
Box Assembly
This assembly contains
electrical
sensing,
monitoring,
and controlling
equipment.
The
equipment
consists
of many sma I I individua
I components.
These components are remov-
able and replaceable
without
disturbing
other items.
Since these items do not have
a life expectancy
factor and do not require
regular
overhaul
or replacement,
overhaul
of the control
box,
for the sake of overhaul,
is not recommended.
In lieu of overhaul,
the control
box assembly should be thoroughly
cleaned and inspected at the time of
generator
overhaul
when it will
be easily
accessible.
A.
Cleaning
(1)
Open doors and trays.
Remove access pane Is as required.
(2)
Use clean,
dry,
compressed air to clean electrical
components.
(3)
If oil,
grease,
or other foreign
material
has accumulated,
clean with a good,
SAFE , commercia I cleaner.

DRY
COMPONENTS
THOROUGHLY
WITH
COMPRESSED
AIR.
USE A LINT
FREE
CLOTH
TO
CLEAN
ANY
EXPOSED
CON-
TACTS.

Inspection
Inspect the assembly thoroughly
after
cleaning.
(1)
Inspect all
leads and wiring
for worn or deteriorated
insulation.
(2)
Inspect all screw-type
and soldered
connections
for security.
(3)
Inspect electrical
components
for signs of deterioration,
cracks,
loose mount-
ing hardware,
etc.
(4)
Inspect all exposed contacts
for burning,
pitting,
and overheating.
