(3) Rear axle
Remove rear axle lubricant filler plug (see Fig. 9). Lubricant level should be
even with the bottom of the filler plug hole. If not, add proper lubricant
(see Fig. 1).
(,4) Transfer case
Remove lubricant filler plug (see Fig. 9).
Lubricant level should be even with
bottom of filler plug hole. If not, add proper lubricant (see Fig. 1).
(5) Steering gear
Remove filler plug in top of steering gear housing (see Fig. 9). Lubricant
level should be near top of housing and cover all moving parts. If not, add
approved lubricant (see Fig. 1).
3. Servicing the Air Cleaner
The air cleaner is a dry type with replaceable filter cartridge. A definite time schedule
for changing the filter cartridge cannot be determined because of varying operating con-
ditions.
Change the filter cartridge when the red indicator "flag" reaches the top of
the viewing chamber and locks in that position (see l-1, Fig. 4). Change the cartridge
as follows:
A. Cartridge Removal (See Fig. 10)
(1) Loosen the four wing nuts (l), unlatch clamps (3), and swing the tee bolts (4)
outward away from the moisture eliminator (7).
(2) Remove the moisture eliminator (7).
(3) Remove the filter cartridge (6) and discard.
CAUTION: DO NOT CLEAN OR RE-USE.
(4) Inspect the interior of the cleaner housing (5). Make certain it is free from
all foreign material.
B. Cartridge Installation (See Fig. 10)
(1) Carefully insert the new cartridge into the housing. Avoid hitting the
cartridge tubes against the housing sealing flange. Make certain thecart-
ridge is seated properly within the housing. Press all edges and corners of the
cartridge firmly with the fingers to effect a positive air seal against the seal-
ing flange- of the housing.
