low engine
temperature,
high oil temperatures,
intermittent
operation,
dust,
etc.
However,
time intervals
should not exceed those indicated
in the chart without
careful
evaluation
.
Although
both hours of operation
and calendar
intervals
are included
in the Sym-
bols and Time
Interval
Chart,
Figure
3, maintenance
MUST
be based on HOURS
OF OPERATION.
The calendar
intervals
are included
only to make certain
maintenance
services
are performed
regularly
when the equipment
is operated
less than normally.

Oil
specification
Engine
lubricating
oil,
recommended
by the engine
manufacturer,
is identified
by an API
(American
Petroleum
Institute)
classification
designation.
The man-
ufacturer
does not recommend any specific
brand of lubricating
oil.
The use of quality
lubricating
oil,
combined with appropriate
lubricating
oil
drain and filter
change intervals
are important
factors
in extending
engine
life.
Oil
recommended for the mode I V-504-C210
engine
in this application
is API
Class CC with a maximum ash content
of 1.85%.
An oil with NO
ash content
is NOT
recommended.
CAUTION:
HIGH
ASH
OILS
MAY
PRODUCE
HARMFUL
DEPOSITS
ON
VALVES
THAT
CAN
CAUSE
VALVE
BURN IN G.
