Use a long-handle
ratchet
wrench with
l-inch
socket to reach into the fan
housing
(5,
Fig.
2) and remove six screws (item 6,
in exploded
view
Figure
3),
which attach the flexible
coupling
and fan assembly to the engine
flywheel
adapter.
NOTE:
This
is a small area in which to work because of fan blade interference.
The engine
sometimes rotates
as a result
of torquing
power applied
to the
coup1 ing screws .
To prevent
engine rotation,
place the square end of
a 3/4 drive extension
(3 to 4 inches long) in the square wrenching
facility
in the front
pulley.
Attach
a long flex-handle
to the extension
and brace the handle against the floor
or frame,
etc.,
(see Fig.
4).
This
illustration
shows wrench
in position
for TIGHTEN
ING
flexible
coupling
screws.
Position
the wrench handle
on the other side of the
engine
for LOOSEN
IN G screws.
CAUTION:
NEVER
USE THE
FAN
BLADES
ON
ANY
PART
OF THE
FAN AS A
PRY POINT
FOR
PREVENTING
ENGINE
ROTATION.
