Starter
Most starting
motors are lubricated
at assembly and should be relubricated
only when the starter
is removed and disassembled,
however,
INSPECT
the
starter
to make certain
it has no lubrication
points.
Water
pump
To lubricate
the water pump, remove pipe plug (see Fig.
7) and replace with
a pressure type lubrication
fitting.
Lubricate
each 1200 hours with approximately
1 tablespoon
of MIL-G-3545
(or equivalent)
grease.
CAUTION:
DO NOT
OVERLUBRICATE.
PUMP
SEALS
WILL
BE DAMAGED
BY OVER LUBR ICATION.
Fan hub
Lubricant
in the fan hub should be checked after each 1200 hours of operation
or yearly.
The fan hub on this particular
engine
is lubricated
with grease.
The hub is equipped with a pipe plug instead of a lubrication
fitting
to dis-
courage and/or prevent
overlubrication
which
could damage internal
seals.
Lubricate
as follows:
