Practices
A.
General
The most convenient
physical
method for checking
components electrically
is to use the terminal
board connections
as test points.
This
method is
used throughout
the trouble
shooting
chart where possible.
Some electrical
components,
especially
in the engine electrical
system,
are not connected
through
terminal
boards and must be tested and checked directly
through
their
own terminal
connections.
A composite
illustration
(Fig.
3) has been
prepared to show and identify
all terminal
boards which
may be used for test
purposes.
"Built-in"
terminal
boards,
such as the one on the governor
electric
control
box,
are shown on separate
illustrations
with
the component
of which they are a part.

B.
Identification
of Terminals
Each terminal
board shown in Figure
3 is identified
by a letter,
i.e.,
A,
B, C,
etc.
Each terminal
on a board is identifiable
by number,
i.e.,
1, 2, 3, etc.
The quantity
of terminals
on a single
board is either
eight,
twelve,
or twenty.
The most IMPORTANT
thing to remember about identification
of terminals
is that
on each board,
TERMINALS
are NUMBERED
from LEFT
to RIGHT
on horizontally,
mounted boards,
and from BOTTOM
to TOP
on vertically
mounted boards.
For
example,
a terminal
identified
as "ElO"
is the TENTH
terminal
from the LEFT
on
terminal
board "E 'I.
"G4"
is the FOURTH
terminal
from the BOTTOM
on terminal
board "G 'I.
This numbering
system is in accordance
with
standard electrical
practices.
Use Fig.
3 to locate the terminal
board,
then count terminals
from
left to right
to identify
the terminal.
