Check crankcase
oil
leve I
Check oil
level daily
with
oil gage dipstick
located on left side of engine
near the rear of cylinder
head (See 1-2,
Fig.
1).
Oil
level should not be checked until
3 to 5 minutes after engine
shut-
down.
Keep oil
level as near "H " mark as possible.
CAUTION:
1.
DO NOT
OVERFILL.
NOTE:
2.
DO NOT
OPERATE
THE
ENGINE
WITH
OIL
LEVEL
BELOW
"L"
(low) MARK
OR ABOVE
"HI' (high) MARK.
If there
is any question
regarding
oil gage dipstick
accuracy,
check oil
level
by removing
l/8
inch pipe plug in side of
oil pan.

to page 2-2
of Cummins Operation
and
Maintenance
Manual.
(b)
Drain
fuel filter
The I ife of the fue I pump and in jectors
can be extended
if the operator
drains about a cup of fuel from each of the fuel filter
elements
to remove
water and sediment
before starting
the engine each day.
(1)
Provide
a container
for catching
drained
fuel.
(2)
Remove the hex head pipe plug in the bottom of one of the filter
elements.
(3)
Allow
approximately
one cup of fuel to drain.
Reinstall
plug.
(4)
Repeat the above two steps for the other element.
(5)
Safely
dispose of drained
fue I.

Check coolant
level
Check coolant
level daily
or at each fuel fill
interval.
Investigate
for
cause of any coolant
loss.
