Fan and coupling
assembly
(a)
Inspect the complete assembly for evidence
of physical
damage and fatigue
cracks.
Inspect rubber bushings for evidence
of fatigue
and overheating.
(b)
Replace defective
parts as required.
Rubber bushings cannot be replaced
individually.
Replace
the complete
coupling
disc with
bushings
installed,

if replacement
is required.
CAUTION:
THE
COMPLETE
FAN
AND
COUPLING
ASSEMBLY
MUST
BE BALANCED
TO WITHIN
l/2
OUNCE
BEFORE
INSTALLATION
ON
THE
GENERATOR.

assembly
(a)
Inspect for cracks,
broken welds,
and other physical
defects.
(b)
Check security
of all parts.
(c)
Test each diode in accordance
with 2-3,
Para.

Rotor assembly
(a)
Visually
inspect the assembly for physical
damage.
Inspect visible
welds
for breaks or fatigue
cracks.

Inspect insulation
on leads and windings.

Generator
and exciter
stators
(a)
Visually
inspect stators
for physical
damage, and inspect welds for cracks
or breaks.

Inspect all wire
leads for
damaged insulation
or broken or frayed wires at
the terminal
ends.

Check windings

Bearing
Installation
If bearings were removed,
new ones must be installed
prior to reassembly
of the
generator.
Bearing
installation
is one of the most critical
operations
in the overhaul
of the generator
set.
Improper installation
practices
and procedures
can only result
in shortened
bearing-life
and premature- failures.
