Configuration of Test Extensions

Two additional analog extensions and one additional digital extension must be configured in the System
85 before performing the tests described in the following sections.
The configuration procedure is as follows:
1. Allocate two analog extensions (2500-type single line) in the System 85.
2. Configure one of these extensions with message waiting. The station configuration screen's Name
entry should use this format — Name: Test C EXT-C. Example,
Name: Test C 123-C
EXT-C is replaced with the extension number. In the tests that follow, the number of this extension is
referred to as EXT-C. Assign this a coverage group in which Octel 200/300 is the first coverage
point. The coverage group must specify forwarding on RNA and busy.
3. The second analog extension does not need message waiting. Use this format for its Name entry —
Test B EXT-B. Example,
Name: Test B 567-B
EXT-B is replaced with the extension number. In the tests that follow, the number of this extension is
referred to as EXT-B. Assign this station the same coverage group assigned to extension EXT-C.
4. The third analog extension does not need message waiting. Use this format for its Name entry —
Test A EXT-A. Example,
Name: Test A 789-A
EXT-A is replaced with the extension number. In the tests that follow, the number of this extension is
referred to as EXT-A. Assign this station the same coverage group assigned to extension EXT-C.
AT&T System 85 Testing
The tests in this section are performed before the actual installation of the ATTIC board. For these tests,
all 25-pair cables connecting the ports to the System 85 should be disconnected from the Octel 200/300
ports. Before disconnecting the cables, mark each one with the number of the Octel 200/300 port to
which it is connected. This ensures that the cables can be re-connected correctly after the ATTIC board is
installed. If the Octel 200/300 ports are not connected to their assigned System 85 extensions, the Octel
200/300 cannot handle calls properly.
The following diagram of the 7407D display telephone is referred to in this section. Refer to this drawing
for the location of the feature buttons.
.
Do not configure the links as 7407D telephones. The 7407D is used to test the links while they are
configured as 7405Ds. Note that 7405Ds may be used for testing.
