OVERVIEW

Enhanced DTMF In-band Integration expands the capability of the Octelt 200/300 beyond an interfaced
or standard integrated environment. It takes full advantage of a PBX equipped to send a DTMF call
record to identify additional information such as the called party, calling party, and call status.
DTMF call records from the PBX are received directly on the Octel 200/300 line card (LIC), just prior to
the call they describe. No special Octel 200/300 hardware or data connection is required to implement
Enhanced DTMF In-band Integration. With the Called Party Identification feature of the Adaptive
Integration optional software package, the Octel 200/300 can be configured to interpret the PBX call
record and handle each call type uniquely.
Enhanced DTMF In-band Integration can be used in conjunction with the lamp message waiting feature
supported by configuring, as appropriate, System Parameters 79 through 84.
Enhanced DTMF In-band Integration activity is logged in the Call Processing Trace. Cumulative data for
Enhanced DTMF In-band Integration are found in traffic pegs 156 through 160. Enhanced DTMF In-band
Integration errors are reflected by Pegs 190 through 196. Refer to the Installation and Maintenance
volume, System Errors and Traffic Peg section, for more information.
.
Not all PBXs support In-band Integration, whether standard or enhanced.
Depending on what the PBX is sending, Enhanced DTMF In-band Integration can provide the Octel
200/300 with the following benefits:
