7.2.1 OPERATION OF AT&T SYSTEM 75 ADAPTIVE INTEGRATION
This chapter explains the PBX and the Octelt 200/300 configuration requirements for correct operation
of AT&T System 75, and Definity G1 Adaptive Integration that includes message waiting indication and
called party identification.
.
Throughout this chapter, the term "System 75" is used to refer to the System 75, and the Definity G1.
System 75 Adaptive Integration uses an intelligent connection between the Octel 200/300 and the System
75 PBX. This intelligent connection is provided by the Octel 200/300 ATTIC (AT&T Interface Card).
Each connection to the ATTIC appears to the System 75 as an AT&T digital display phone, called a link.
The interface between the System 75 and the Octel 200/300 enables
Message waiting indication (MWI) — Control of message waiting lamps on PBX stations.
-
Called party identification (CPI) — Identification of the source and original destination of calls
-
forwarded to the Octel 200/300. The Octel 200/300 can process the call and provide call coverage
based upon the type of call and desired coverage.
Any information that the System 75 provides to an AT&T display phone station (either on the display
itself or by the display set LEDs) is available to the Octel 200/300.This information includes the
following:
The trunk group number of external calls that have been directed to the Octel 200/300 for primary
-
answering.
The trunk group number and the original called extension of external calls that have been forwarded
-
to the Octel 200/300.
The calling and called extension numbers of internal calls that have been forwarded to the Octel
-
200/300.
The extension number of an internal station calling the Octel 200/300 directly.
-
For many applications, Personal Assistance and Auto-transfer to Assistance are recommended. For details
regarding these two features, refer to the Feature Description volume, Customizing Mailbox Features.
.
Personal Assistance operates in conjunction with called party identification in integrated systems.
Caution!
Message Waiting Indication. Message waiting indication enables the Octel 200/300 to activate and
deactivate the message waiting indicator available on phones that indicate when there are messages
waiting on the Octel 200/300. Message waiting indication uses the System 75 Leave Word Calling
(LWC) feature to perform this function.
