MILLENNIUM FUNCTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
The Octel 200/300 is restricted in how it interfaces because of limitations of the Millennium. The
customer should be advised on the issues, and care should be taken not to forward all extensions to the
Octel 200/300, depending on who typically calls the extension.
Console
The START key must be used to generate DTMF tones from the console. If the START key is not used,
the Octel 200/300 is not able to recognize DTMF tones generated by the console.
Sequential or Multilevel Forwarding
Sequential or multilevel forwarding is not supported by the Millennium.
Forwarding
All forward conditions cause the Octel 200/300 to play the "unavailable" prompt since the forwarding
condition is not defined in the integration call record.
A direct reply cannot be made to messages left by forwarded internal callers. The source of a forwarded
call is not defined in the integration call record.
Link Performance
Note that the Millennium does not send calls to the Octel 200/300 ports if the data link is not in
operation.
Because of strapping requirements on the RS-232C IDEA PBA (printed board assembly), the Millennium
cannot immediately detect that the integration data link has been disconnected. At this point, attempting
to reach the Octel 200/300 results in ring-no-answer. The Millennium then detects the absence of a data
acknowledgment when trying to send a call record to the Octel 200/300. At this point, attempting to
reach the Octel 200/300 results in a fast busy signal. Ring-no-answer may occur for about a minute
before fast busy signals are encountered.
When the integration data link is reconnected, the Millennium has no way to detect the fact directly. At
this point, attempting to reach the Octel 200/300 results in a fast busy signal. About every five minutes,
the Millennium polls the link until it gets a response, at which point the link is in full operation.
The following summarizes the integration data link:
If the data link is disconnected and reconnected before the Millennium
-
sends a call record, there is no effect on service.
If the data link is disconnected and the Millennium sends a call record, the caller gets
-
ring-no-answer.
When the data link is reconnected, callers receive fast busy for up to five minutes. Once the
-
Millennium has established communication with the Octel 200/300, normal call activity may resume.
Call records do not indicate the source for forwarded trunk calls, forwarded internal calls, or direct calls
from a console designated as extension 0.
