8.1.5 ROLM TESTING

This section describes the procedures for installation and testing of the ROLM CBX Adaptive
Integration. The ROLM CBX should always be checked for proper operation after any changes are made
to the system configuration. Refer to the ROLM Board Installation section in this chapter for the
procedure for installing the ROLM board. In addition to the system test, there are some tests that should
be made before the Octel 200/300 is connected. Refer to Table 8.1-1 for the items required for testing.

These tests assume that no other calls are being made into the Octel 200/300. If the Octel 200/300
receives other calls, the test results may be invalid.
After the test extensions are configured and the RIC is prepared for testing, begin the testing procedure.
1. OCTEL 200/300 OPERATIONAL PRE-TEST
This test verifies that dial tone is present on each PBX extension associated with the Octel
200/300 and the two digit display sets.
a.
Disconnect the 25-pair cables from the back of the Octel 200/300.
b. Connect the modular adapter to the 25-pair cable associated with slot 1.
c.
Connect a 2500-type single line telephone to the first jack position of the adapter.

2500-type (single line touchtone) phones, one with a message waiting indicator.
Terminal/Teleprinter directly connected to Octel 200/300, via RS-232C cable.
Hard copy of the configuration database.
Extensions for testing, connected to RJ11 jacks (in addition to the extensions
associated with Octel 200/300). One of these extensions must be configured for
message waiting. Both must be configured for RNA and busy forwarding.
Display phones. These phones are required for testing purposes only (to emulate the
RIC).
Hard copy of the display phone button configuration.
Hard copy of port mapping information (PRTMAP command).
Modular adapters (recommend Armiger 8-position modular adapter, part number
AA-2560A or equivalent).
Only the first four jack positions of the modular adapter are used per cable.
