Any one or more of these criteria may be specified in a coverage group definition. The criteria may be
specified differently for internal and external calls. Furthermore, the coverage group allows up to three
coverage points to be specified. Different sets of coverage points may be specified for internal or external
calls. A coverage point may be a single extension or hunt group.
The call coverage feature tries each coverage point in succession until the call is answered. Call coverage
selects the next coverage point if the current coverage point does not answer within the System 85 system
parameter - Don't Answer Interval for Subsequent Redirection. The Octel 200/300 must be defined as the
last port in coverage.
Forwarded calls follow the coverage group of the original called extension. If a call attempts to forward
to a coverage point extension that is also forwarding calls, it does not forward to that phone. Instead, it
forwards to the next coverage point in the original called extension's coverage group.
The Octel 200/300 uses the following prompts to describe the reason a call has been sent to coverage:
* If System Parameter 115 is set to Y, Octel 200/300 uses "(name) is busy" instead of "(name) is on
the phone." Refer to Feature Description volume, Customizing Mailbox Features chapter, for
more information.

Called Party Identification Call Processing

With called party identification, the Octel 200/300 distinguishes between internal calls and external trunk
calls, as well as between direct calls and forwarded calls. The Octel 200/300 identifies the different types
of calls with a 40-character call record that the PBX sends through the digital links of the ATTIC. This
section describes how the Octel 200/300 uses call record information to identify and process various
types of calls.
Direct Calls From External Trunks
Specific trunk groups of the System 85 can be directed to the Octel 200/300 for answering via the System
85's auto-terminate feature. See AT&T System 85 Configuration, Trunk Groups in this chapter for the
requirements to configure the trunk groups. For calls coming in on these trunk groups, the System 85
provides Octel 200/300 with a call record that looks like this:
a = T−XXX
XXX is the three-digit trunk access code that the Octel 200/300 uses to identify trunk groups. With this
information, the Octel 200/300 can process external calls according to which trunk group they are
received on.
The Octel 200/300 answers an external call with the company greeting assigned to the trunk group
containing that call. Different company greetings may be configured for different trunk groups because
the Octel 200/300 identifies which trunk group a call comes in on.
Upon hearing the greeting, the caller may enter an extension number.
