MILLENNIUM REQUIREMENTS

The Millennium requirements are divided into hardware requirements and software requirements.
Hardware Requirements
The Millennium hardware requirements are divided into the following categories:

Port Requirements
Universal line ports programmed as VMVOICE type are required. Up to 24 VMVOICE ports may be
configured.
Line Card Requirements
If the trunks provide disconnect supervision, Quad or Octal universal line cards or modem control cards
may be used for the VM ports. However, if trunks do not provide disconnect supervision, modem control
cards must be used for the VM ports. Use of the modem control cards ensures that trunk calls to the VM
ports are terminated properly.
Link Hardware Requirements
The following Millennium printed board assemblies (PBAs) are required to support RS-232C integration
with an Octel 200/300:
Data Register PBA, should be Rev A005 or later.

The Millennium vendor must complete cross connection of the RS-422 IDEA board and the Data
Register PBA according to Cortelco practices before the integration data link will operate.
The integration data link is connected using a Millennium part number XXX-011 DTE - DCE RS-232C
cable. The Millennium vendor must supply this cable and install an eight-pin modular jack wired to the
appropriate point on the Millennium Main Distribution Frame.
The integration data link is configured on any one of four data ports on the RS-232C IDEA II PBA. The
Millennium vendor must strap the IDEA board accordingly to provide a permanent DSR (Data Set
Ready) signal on the data port configured for the Octel 200/300. Figure 9-2 is provided for reference.

The PBX vendor should test the data registers to ensure that they all work properly. If any of these are
not working, the data link could have problems initializing properly after restarts and power failures.
