Network authentication settings

Ths settng allows you to lmt machne access to authorzed users only.
Ths feature s compatble wth Actve Drectory or Wndows NT Server 4.0.
The Network Authentcaton feature also supports Kerberos, the hghest securty
level wthn Actve Drectory. Ths product ncludes RSA BSAFE
software from RSA Securty Inc.
When the settng s actvated, users should enter ther doman user name and pass-
word to authentcate themselves and access the machne.
The admnstrator can check who has logged n the network usng the machne.
In Actve Drectory, the user's nformaton wll be acqured through the LDAP v3
(usng encrypted authentcaton) when the user s authorzed.
If the user has logged n wth ther OfficeDrector profile the "Reply To:" field n all
outbound e-mal (and Internet fax) communcaton wll be tagged wth the e-mal
address regstered n ther OfficeDrector profile. If the user does not logn wth
ther OfficeDrector profile the "Reply To:" n all outbound e-mal (and Internet fax)
communcaton wll be tagged wth the e-mal address regstered n Actve Drec-
tory.
If the user name and password s the same for both network authentcaton (Actve
Drectory) and OfficeDrector, the logn procedure for network authentcaton wll
be skpped.

Setting up the Authentication Mode

The followng four tems must be regstered pror to usng the authentcaton mode:
• Server Type ..................... Select ether Actve Drectory or Wndows NT.
• Doman Name ................. Enter the doman name.
• Mode Authentcaton ...... Select whch mode(s) wll requre authentcaton
NOTE
• The DNS server should be set up when usng the authentcaton mode wth
Actve Drectory (Wndows 2000 server and Wndows Server 2003).
• The "Wndows Tme Servce" should be actvated n Actve Drectory when usng
the authentcaton mode wth Actve Drectory.
• The WINS settngs should be set up when usng the authentcaton mode wth
Wndows NT Server 4.0.
• When usng Wndows NT Server 4.0, the verson must be Servce Pack 4 or later.
• When you change the Server Type, the Doman Name wll be cleared. Reenter the
Doman Name after changng the Server Type.
Locating the authentication setting

Press <Settng> on the control panel.

Press [Management].

Press [Network Settngs].
NOTE
If a network settngs code (see page 9-89) has been set, you must enter the proper
copy, fax and/or scan.
