Scanning errors

Symptom
Cannot browse a folder / file
Cannot scan a document
Scanned mage looks drty
A file name or folder name that
contans a specal character s
not correctly dsplayed and/or
cannot open or delete t.

rouBlEShooting
• Check that your browsng folder / file s n the same segment wth your
machne.
• Check that your folder s under a shared folder that name contans 12 char-
acters of less.
• Check that the lnk to your browsng folder s 100 characters or less n
length.
• Check that the lnk to your browsng file s 128 characters or less n length.
• Check that the network cable s connected properly.
• Check that the network settng have been properly set.
• Check that the e-mal address stored n your address book or the folder/FTP
shortcut s correct.
• Make sure that the machne s n scan mode. If not, change to the mode to the
scan mode by pressng [SCAN].
• The document glass or ADF glass may be drty.
Clean the glass (see page 11-2.)
• Change the scannng contrast by pressng [Contrast].
• Change the scannng resoluton by pressng [Resoluton].
• Change the document type by pressng [Doc.Type].
The code page currently usng n your Wndows does not compatble wth a
specal characters whch can be used n your machne.
To solve ths ssue, change the currently usng code page to code page 850 on
your Wndows.
IMPORTANT
To change the code page, you wll modfy the Wndows regstry.
Before you modfy the regstry, make sure to back t up and make sure that
you understand how to restore the regstry f a problem occurs. For nforma-
ton about how to back up, restore, and edt the regstry, refer to the artcle
number 256986 n the Mcrosoft Knowledge Base (http://support.mcrosoft.
com/kb/256986/en-us).
If you use Regstry Edtor ncorrectly, you may cause serous problems that
may requre you to renstall your operatng system. We cannot guarantee that
you can solve problems that result from usng Regstry Edtor ncorrectly. Use
Regstry Edtor at your own rsk.
To change the code page on your Wndows:
1. On your computer, clck [Start], clck [Run], type regedt, and then clck [OK].
2. Locate and double-clck the followng regstry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\Codep-
age\OEMCP
3. In "Value data", type "850", and clck [OK].
