3.6 Transmitting/ Receiving

3.6
Transmitting/ Receiving
To transmit and receive, the PTT switch can be used.
Receiving
Received audio sounds from the speaker when the transceiver receives a signal and conditions to unmute the speaker are
satisfied. To respond, speak into the microphone while pressing the PTT switch.
Transmitting
Transmitting can be initiated by selecting the desired Zone-channel or GID, and then pressing the PTT switch. Audio is
transmitted by speaking into the microphone while pressing the PTT switch. Releasing the PTT switch terminates
transmitting.
Conditions to unmute the speaker while receiving, the transceiver behavior while transmitting, or communication methods,
such as an individual call or group call, vary according to the system in use. Refer to the following chapters for
communication methods in each system.
8 NXDN CONVENTIONAL SYSTEM on page 109
9 NXDN TRUNKING SYSTEM on page 187
10 ANALOG CONVENTIONAL SYSTEM on page 251
11 LTR TRUNKING SYSTEM on page 279
In addition, for Mobile, various communications can be done using the external ports of the transceiver. Refer to
22.2 D-sub 25-pin Connector (Mobile Only) on page 481

Input Sensitivity of the Microphone (Mic Sense)

Mic Sense can be used to adjust the microphone sensitivity.
In Mic Sense, the microphone sensitivity can be configured within the following range.
6dB, 4dB (High), 2dB, 0dB (Normal), -2dB, -4dB, -6dB, -8dB, -10dB (Low), -12dB, -14dB, -16dB, -18dB, -20dB
The appropriate level of microphone sensitivity for normal operation is 0 dB. Based on this level, the parameter of the
microphone sensitivity can be configured.
Note
• For Portable, microphone sensitivity for internal microphone and external microphone can be independently configured by using
KPG-111D/ DN.
• For Mobile, microphone sensitivity for MI2 line can be configured by using KPG-111D/ DN when the transceiver transmits using
External PTT (Voice), External PTT (Data), or Data PTT of the AUX Input port.
• If a level lower than "0 dB" is configured for Mic Sense, the amplitude limit level is also lowered simultaneously; so Modulation Limiting
(minimum) in Analog FM will be lowered.
