8.9 Sending and Receiving a Status Message (Status Call)
Preamble Length
Preamble Length is the function to extend time for sending a preamble when the NXDN frame is sent.
Extending the time for sending a preamble at the beginning of transmission makes the receiving transceiver easier to
receive a call and reduces missing of the beginning of the audio during the scan.
The extended time of a preamble is determined by using the following equation.
Very Narrow:
Time [s] = 1/2400 x 4 x Configuration value for Preamble Length
Narrow:
Time [s] = 1/4800 x 8 x Configuration value for Preamble Length

Sending and Receiving a Status Message (Status Call)
Status Call is a simple messaging system that allows a user to send and receive a status (Status Message). Since the
message is replaced by status, communications can take place quickly and communication traffic can be reduced.
The following methods are available to send a Status Message.
Note
This section describes information for both an NXDN Conventional system and NXDN Trunking system.
Status Message
The transceiver enters Status Mode by a user pressing a PF key or a key on the keypad, and then the
Status Mode
transceiver will send a Status Message. (Refer to
Pressing one of the Call 1 to Call 6 keys causes the transceiver to send the preconfigured Status Message.
Call 1 to Call 6 can be assigned to the PF keys using KPG-111D/ DN and the Status Message corresponding
Call key
to each key can be selected from the Status List in NXDN.
In this case, a Status Message is always sent to the preconfigured Base ID.
The transceiver sends the Status Message configured in the transceiver when the transceiver is turned ON

or OFF. (Refer to

In this case, a Status Message is always sent to the preconfigured Base ID.
The transceiver will send a Status Message when the transceiver receives a PC command from the
PC Command
communication port.
Note
For NX-200S/ NX-300S, the transceiver cannot send a Status Message by using Status Mode.
