17.2 Optional Voice Scrambler (Analog)
Scrambler/Encryption Status Memory
Scrambler/Encryption Status Memory is the function to retain in the transceiver the Voice Scrambler status of each
channel, either enabled or disabled.
If Scrambler/Encryption Status Memory is enabled, the Voice Scrambler status, either enabled or disabled, retained in the
transceiver is read and applied to the parameters for each channel when the data is read from the transceiver using
KPG-111D/ DN.

Optional Voice Scrambler (Analog)
Voice Scrambler is the function to scramble the audio signal so that the contents of communications can be prevented
from being intercepted.
An optional Voice Scrambler Board can be used with the transceiver.
The transceiver can scramble the audio signal and send the scrambled signal by connecting the Voice Scrambler Board to
the 26-pin connector in the transceiver and configuring various functions associated with Voice Scrambler by using
KPG-111D/ DN.

• This function can be used only in an Analog Conventional system and LTR Trunking system.
• The transceiver is equipped with an entry-level speech inversion scrambler. An entry-level speech inversion scrambler cannot be
simultaneously used with the optional Voice Scrambler Board. (Refer to
• Refer to the CSI on how to install the Voice Scrambler Board.
• Refer to the instruction manual supplied with the Voice Scrambler Board for details on the Voice Scrambler Board.
Toggling the Voice Scrambler between Enabled and Disabled
Pressing the Scrambler/ Encryption key toggles the Voice Scrambler between enabled and disabled.
The status of Voice Scrambler (enabled or disabled) can also be switched by pressing the Menu key to enter the Menu
Mode, and then selecting "Scrambler/ Encryption". (Refer to

• The Voice Scrambler can also be enabled or disabled using KPG-111D/ DN. The status of Voice Scrambler configured using
KPG-111D/ DN can be changed by a transceiver operation.
• Audio signals modulated by the Voice Scrambler can correctly be demodulated only by the same type of scrambler.
