14 Administer community string

14.1 Purpose

This chapter provides instructions to provision community strings and log in to a NE
with the community string provisioned for the 9500 MPR.

14.2 Overview

The Community String (CS) acts like a password to control access to an NE. It
defines what community of people can access the NE.
Two community strings are supported:
Community Strings must meet the following complexity parameters:
NEtO only supports the Set CS Community String.

14.3 Procedures

This section provides the following procedures:
• Get CS
− Default value: public
− Both Read and Read-Write objects operate in Read mode only
• Set CS
− Default value: private
− Both Read and Read-Write objects operate in their respective modes
• Minimum Length - CS must be at least six characters in length
• Maximum Length - CS shall not exceed ten characters in length
• Composition - CS must be composed alphanumeric (Upper and lower case)
characters only
To set the community string using the Web Server
