5.5.12 Installing an iBBU

This topic describes how to install an intelligent battery backup unit (iBBU).
Scenarios
You can configure an iBBU to provide power failure protection for the LSISAS2208
controller card. Install an iBBU if:

Spare iBBU
Procedure
Step 1 Wear an ESD wrist strap or ESD gloves. For details, see
Step 2 Take the spare iBBU out of its ESD bag.
Step 3 Install the iBBU and connect a cable to the iBBU. Place the cable connector pin
side facing downward. See steps (1) and (2) in
If the cable connector side with pins face upward when the cable is inserted into
the iBBU, device damage will occur.

An iBBU has failed.
An iBBU is low.
You have powered off the RH8100 V3. For details, see

V3. Then you have removed all power cables from the server.
You have removed the front I/O module from the RH8100 V3. For details, see

You have obtained the cabinet number and chassis number of the RH8100 V3.
You have located the RH8100 V3 based on the preceding information, and
labeled its panel to prevent misoperations.
You have determined the position on the RH8100 V3 for installing an iBBU.
