TURN SIGNALS
DESCRIPTION
The turn signals are actuated with a lever on the
left side of the steering column just behind the steer
ing wheel. The signals are turned off by a canceling
cam (two lobes molded to the clockspring mecha
nism). The cam comes in contact with the cancel ac
tuator on the turn signal (multi-function) switch
assembly. Either cam lobe, pushing on the cancel ac
tuator, returns the switch to the off position.
With the ignition switch ON, and the multi-func
tion lever i n its up or down position, current flows
through the.

between fuse and flasher.
(4) Replace turn flasher with 2 lamp 12-volt rated
flasher, that is known to be good. With ignition
switch in ON position, and turn stalk moved up or
down, the lamps should flash. I f not, replace with
original flasher and go to next step.
(5) Locate the multi-function switch connector. Re
fer to Multi-Function Switch Testing Procedures.
Measure voltage at the multi-function switch connec
tor cavity 17. Meter should read battery voltage. I f
OK, replace multi-function switch. I f not, repair open
circuit in wiring between flasher and multi-function
switch connector cavity 17.
