INTRODUCTION
Chrysler Corporation has compiled recommended
lubrication and maintenance schedules and proce­
dures to help reduce premature wear or failure over
a broad range of operating conditions.
SERVICE INTERVALS FOR 1500 and 2500 LIGHT
DUTY VEHICLES
AT EACH STOP FOR FUEL
• Check engine oil level, add as required.
• Check windshield washer solvent and add i f re­
quired.
OHCE A MONTH
• Check tire pressure and look for unusual wear or
damage.
• Inspect battery and clean and tighten terminals as
required.
• Check fluid levels of coolant reservoir, power steer­
ing and transmission and add as needed.
• Check all lights and all other electrical items for
correct operation.
7,500 MILES (12 OOO KM) OR AT 6 MONTHS
• Check engine coolant level, hoses and clamps.
• Change engine oil.
• Check exhaust system.
• Lubricate steering linkage.
• Lubricate propeller shaft universal joints and slip
splines.
• Inspect brake hoses.
• Rotate tires.
15,000 MILES (24 OOO KM) OR AT 12 MONTHS
• Check engine coolant level, hoses and clamps.
• Change engine oil.
• Replace engine oil filter.
• Check exhaust system.
• Lubricate steering linkage.
• Inspect front wheel bearings (4x4).
• Lubricate propeller shaft universal joints and slip
splines.
• Inspect brake hoses.
• Rotate tires.
22,500 MILES (36 OOO KM) OR AT 18 MONTHS
• Check engine coolant level, hoses and clamps.
• Change engine oil.
• Check exhaust system.
• Lubricate steering linkage.
• Lubricate propeller shaft universal joints and slip
splines.
• Lubricate front suspension ball joints (See Note 1).
• Lubricate manual transmission gearshift control.
• Inspect front wheel bearings (4x2).
• Lubricate parking brake ratio lever pivot.
• Inspect brake linings.
• Inspect brake hoses.
• Rotate tires.
30,000 MILES (48 OOO KM) OR AT 24 MONTHS
• Replace air cleaner filter.
• Replace spark plugs.
• Check engine coolant level, hoses and clamps.
• Change engine oil.
• Replace engine oil filter.
• Check exhaust system.
• Lubricate steering linkage.
• Inspect front wheel bearings (4x4).
• Lubricate propeller shaft universal joints and slip
splines.
• Inspect brake hoses.
• Rotate tires.

SOO MILES (60 OOO KM) OR AT 30 MONTHS
• Check engine coolant level, hoses and clamps.
• Change engine oil.
• Check exhaust system.
• Lubricate steering linkage.
• Lubricate propeller shaft universal joints and slip
splines.
• Drain and refill manual transmission.
• Drain and refill automatic transmission, change
filters and adjust bands.
• Drain and refill transfer case.
• Inspect brake hoses.
• Rotate tires.
45,000 MILES (72 500 KM) OR AT 36 MONTHS
F l u s h and replace engine coolant at 52,500
miles or 36 months and every 30,000 miles or 24
months thereafter.
• Check engine coolant level, hoses and clamps.
• Change engine oil.
• Replace engine oil filter.
• Check exhaust system.
• Lubricate steering linkage.
• Lubricate propeller shaft universal joints and slip
splines.
• Lubricate front suspension ball joints (See Note 1).
