4) Check thermostatic movement of wax pellet as follows:
ii) Check that valve starts to open at specific temperature.
iii) If valve starts to open at a temperature substantially below

INSTALLATION
1) When positioning thermostat on water pump case, be sure to
position it so that air bleed valve comes at match mark and into
the recession of water pump case.
2) Install thermostat cap to water pump case.
3) Connect cooling water hose.
4) Fill cooling system referring to "COOLING SYSTEM FLUSH
AND REFILL" in this section.
5) Connect negative cable at battery.
6) After installation, check each part for leakage.
DRIVE BELT
1. Water pump belt
2. Adjusting bolt
3. Pivot bolts
FOR G13 AND G16 TYPE ENGINE MODELS
REMOVAL
1) Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2) Remove air cleaner assembly.
3) Loosen drive belt adjusting bolt and generator pivot bolts.
When servicing vehicle equipped with A/C, remove compressor
drive belt before removing water pump belt.
4) Slacken belt by displacing generator and then remove it.
INSTALLATION
1) Install belt to water pump pulley, crankshaft pulley and genera-
tor pulley.
When servicing vehicle equipped with A/C, install compressor
drive belt, too.
2) Adjust belt tension.
For Adjustment of compressor drive belt tension, refer to Sec-
tion 1B.
3) Tighten water pump belt adjusting bolt and pivot bolts.
4) Connect negative cable at battery.
i) Immerse thermostat in water, and heat water gradually.
or above specific temperature, thermostat unit should be re-
placed with a new one. Such a unit, if reused, will bring about
overcooling or overheating tendency.
