TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
This section describes trouble diagnosis of Electronic
Fuel Injection system parts whose trouble is not indi-
cated by the on-board diagnostic system (self-diagno-
sis function).
SYMPTOM
Hard or no starting
(Engine cranks OK)
NOTE:
If engine is warm and hard to start but starts easily with accelerator pedal depressed, check idle air con-
trol valve and its circuit first. (Advance to "Diagnostic Flow Table B-4".)
Engine fails to idle

POSSIBLE CAUSE
D Shortage of fuel in fuel tank
D Injector or its circuit faulty
D Faulty fuel pump or its circuit open
D Fuel pressure out of specification
D Engine start signal not to fed
D Poor performance of IAT sensor, ECT sensor or
MAP sensor
D Faulty ECM (PCM)
D Shortage of fuel in fuel tank
D Faulty idle air control valve or its circuit
D Faulty EGR system (if equipped)
D Fuel pressure out of specification
D Injector or its circuit faulty
D Poor performance of IAT sensor, ECT sensor or
MAP sensor
D Faulty ECM (PCM)
When diagnostic trouble code No. 12 is indicated by
the on-board diagnostic system (self-diagnosis func-
tion) and assuredly those engine basic parts as de-
scribed in "ENGINE DIAGNOSIS" in Section 6 are all
in good condition, check Electronic Fuel Injection sys-
tem parts which may be a possible cause for each
symptom of the engine.
