Engine Oil and Filter Changing

Select the SAE class (viscosity) on the basis of the average air temperature for the season.

See Figure 13-3.

Too strict adherence to the SAE classes will result in frequent oil changes. For this

reason, view the temperature ranges for the various SAE classes as guidelines that

can be exceeded for a short time.

Use approved multigrade oils to extend the temperature range.

To ensure the engine is protected and the oil stays clean until the next oil change, use only oils

of API classification CH4.
