In the above example, both measurements belonged to repair stage "Standard." If
necessary, listed in Table 1-20are the correct repair stages for each measurement.

5. Install the crankshaft. Refer to section 1.9.2.
6. Using a dial gauge and holder, measure the end play of the crankshaft. Measure at the
front end of the crankshaft, with the crankshaft fully installed and all the bearing caps
tightened to the correct torque. See Figure 1-59.

dial gauge to 5 mm (0.2 inch) preload.
