3.3 Adjustment

This section describes the adjustments necessary for the EPSON AcuLaser
C8500.
3.3.1

NIP Pressure of the MAIN FUSER ASSY

Make this adjustment to set fixing level to a proper level.
The FUSE R section becomes extremely hot. Be careful not
W A R N I N G
to burn yourself when making the adjustment.
NOTE: Be sure to begin the adjustment after warming up.
1. Remove the EXIT TRAY ASSY. (See Section 3.2.13.1.)
2. Pull out the FUSER ASSY.
3. Remove the MAIN FUSER ASSY. (See Section 3.2.12.2.)
4. Remove the UPPER GUIDE ASSY. (See Section 3.2.12.3.)
5. Remove the FUSER UPPER ASSY. (See Section 3.2.12.4.)
6. Remove the FUSER FRONT COVER and FUSER REAR COVER. (See
Section 3.2.12.5.)
7. Wait 10 seconds and then remove the paper.
8. Measure the width of the discolored portion of the paper. (Measure 15mm
from the edge of the paper.)
9. NIP pressure is properly set if the measurement is 4.8 ( 0.2mm, and the
difference between the 2 measurements is about 0.2mm.
10. Turn the 2 NIP width adjustment nuts on the front/rear of the MAIN FUSER
ASSY, and set the NIP SPRING length at [43.4 ± 0.1mm].
