switchport general pvid

Use the switchport general pvid command in Interface Configuration mode to configure the
Port VLAN ID (PVID) when the interface is in general mode. Use the switchport mode general
command to set the VLAN membership mode of a port to "general." To configure the default
value, use the no form of this command.
Syntax
vlan-id
switchport general pvid
no switchport general pvid
vlan-id — PVID. The VLAN ID may belong to a non-existent VLAN.

Default Configuration
vlan-id
The default value for the parameter is 1 when the VLAN is enabled. Otherwise, the value
is 4093.

This command has no user guidelines.
Example
The following example shows how to configure the PVID for 1/g8, when the interface is in
general mode.
console(config)#interface ethernet 1/g8
console(config-if-1/g8)#switchport general pvid 234

switchport mode

Use the switchport mode command in Interface Configuration mode to configure the VLAN
membership mode of a port. To reset the mode to the appropriate default for the switch, use the
no form of this command.
