Check the indicator plate position when the brake
pedal applied.
If the arrow on the indicator plate aligns with the
"f':,," mark, inspect the brake drum (page 16-14).
If the brake drum 1.0. is within the service limit,
replace the brake shoes (page 16-15).
NOTE:
If no adjustment remains before the wear indicator
limit is reached, this indicates excessive wear and
the brake shoes need to be replaced.
BRAKE SYSTEM
Firmly apply the brake lever, and check that no air
has entered the system.
If the lever feels soft or spongy when operated,
bleed the air from the system.
For air bleeding procedures (page 17-5).
Inspect the brake hose and fittings for deterioration,
cracks, damage or signs of leakage.
Tighten any loose fittings.
Replace the hose and fittings as required.
