Full license entitlement

Features that require a license include a license entitlement certificate with the hardware product. This
certificate is either an electronic document provided at purchase of a feature (for example, replication), or
a paper document provided with a capacity upgrade kit or optional hardware. The document contains all
information required to obtain a unique License to Use (LTU) key. Obtain the key from the Hewlett
Packard Enterprise Licensing site. The web address is specified on the certificate. (Users without Internet
access can use the contact numbers provided with the entitlement certificate.)
Enter the product serial number when requesting an LTU key. This serial number is the Node Lock Serial
Number/Cluster ID on the License Management page.
Licenses available
• Capacity license: Enables additional local storage capacity.
• Security license: Enables the security features of Data at Rest Encryption and Data in Flight
Encryption.
• StoreOnce Catalyst license: Enables the creation and use of StoreOnce Catalyst stores.
• Cloud Bank Storage Read/Write Capacity license: Enables the creation and use of Cloud Bank
stores that multiple systems can access. Available as a demo license. Required before installing a
Cloud Bank Storage Detach Capacity license.
• Cloud Bank Storage Detach Capacity license: Allows Cloud Bank stores to be disconnected from
the host system in a reattachable and readable state.
You can add up to 50 Cloud Bank Storage license keys to a system. The license key limit is for Read/
Write Capacity and Detach Capacity combined. The capacity enabled by a license key is specified in 1 TB
multiples using the MyHPELicensing portal. For larger systems, HPE recommends generating license
keys with larger multiples of 1 TB so the capacity is not limited by the 50 license key limit.

Redeeming a license

Procedure
1. In the Navigator pane, click on License Management.
2. On the License Management page, identify the Node Lock Serial Number/Cluster ID at the top of
the page. You will need this number to redeem licenses.
a. The serial number will be a 14 character cluster ID (not the ID of any individual node). The first two
characters will be "hp" and are required. Any alphabetic characters in the serial number are upper
case.
3. Copy the serial number to a text file.
4. Go to the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Licensing website at http://enterpriselicense.hpe.com/
redirector/home (select "Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software Licenses and Downloads").
5. Log in using your Hewlett Packard Enterprise Passport user ID and password.
6. Enter your product serial number.
7. Obtain the unique LTU key by saving the license to a .DAT file, emailing the file to the registered
license owner's email address, or cutting and pasting to copy the key to a temporary text file.
