Update the system type database
• Log on to Hewlett Packard Enterprise System Insight Manager, if not already logged on.
• Select Options — Manage System Types... on the Home page to display a list of all managed
system types.
• Click on New.. to add a new system type.
• Define a new rule filling only required fields as follows:
1. System object identifier: 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.10.3.1.3.27
2. Compare rule: match
3. Priority: 1 (highest)
4. System type: Storage Device
5. Product Model: StoreOnce xxxx System
• Click OK. The StoreOnce System will now be included as a product within the pool of managed
system types. (Select Storage Device from the System Type drop-down menu to check this.)
Discover the StoreOnce System
NOTE: Always set up the SNMP parameters on the StoreOnce Management Console before discovering
the StoreOnce System on HPE-SIM. See the StoreOnce System CLI Reference Guide for the complete
range of SNMP commands.
• Log on to Hewlett Packard Enterprise System Insight Manager, if not already logged on.
• Select Options — Discovery... on the Home page to display a list of systems that have already been
discovered.
• Click Edit... to configure the discovery rule for the StoreOnce System
• Place a single IP or a range of IP addresses to discover the new machine(s) in Ping inclusion
ranges... .
• Click Credentials..., select the SNMP tab and type in the Read community string. This string is the
same as the Read Community string that you configured on the StoreOnce Management Console. If
you are using the default setting that allows everyone on the network to read the reported alerts, enter
"public". Click OK to confirm.
• Click Save to save the discovery rule.
• To start the discovery process click Run Now.
NOTE: If a firewall is in operation on the machine running Hewlett Packard Enterprise Systems Insight
Manager, make sure the StoreOnce System(s) are within the firewall.
• The discovery process adds new machine(s) to the collection of managed systems. To locate the
StoreOnce System, enter its IP address in the Search box in the left-hand pane and click Search.
NOTE: If the discovery process fails, check that the network is working correctly and that the
StoreOnce System is online.
