4.2 Workflow

The engineering workflow presented in this chapter describes only the steps needed to instantiate, configure

and program safety modules and those non-safety modules which are a part of the "black channel" [3] in the

safe communication part. All other non-safety modules are separately covered in PS501 Control Builder Plus

V2.2.1 (or newer) / ABB Automation Builder 1.0 (or newer) and AC500 User Documentation.

Fig. 63 provides an overview of steps which have to be carried out to successfully configure and program

AC500-S Safety PLC.
