The Studer OnAir 3000 is based on the well-received 'Touch'n'Action' con-
cept of the OnAir 2000. As the desk is modular and can be combined for any
application, from one basic fader block up to the fully-featured control desk,
its operation is subdivided in different modes. In each case, easy operation
and access to the functions is given.
Normal operation of the console has been kept as simple as possible, since
it will mainly be operated by technically inexperienced users. This has been
achieved by minimizing the number of operating elements. Touch-screen
technology allows this by just showing the elements on the screen that are
currently needed. This is a feature much appreciated by customers and users.
In contrast to the OnAir 2000 some more elements are included in the fader
strip. This is due to customer requirements, but also to the fact that the fader
module may be the only user interface, e.g. in a news room, and some more
functions must be available on this module without any screen.
Both the DSP core and the distribution box are equipped with autoranging
primary power supply units (input voltage range 80...240 VAC/50...60 Hz)
with power factor correction. On both units the power switch is located at the
rear, next to the power inlet.
The OnAir 3000 is EN and UL approved.
DSP Core
The DSP core can be equipped with a second primary PSU for redundancy.
The standard 1U distribution box supplying the desk offers an external 24 V
input in addition to the mains power inlet. A fully-redundant 2U distribution
box is available as well.
UPS
For extra security against power loss cases, supplying the SCore by an UPS
(un-interruptible power supply) is recommended.
The desk is normally switched on and off with the studio master switch; it
may also be switched on and off with the power switch of the Distribution
Box without any audio signals or audio parameters getting lost.
