Such networks are :
• Internet
The internet provides various services, where an NTP server may be a service
used by OnAir consoles for system time synchronization.
• IT network
Various servers and workstation are usually located in an existing network
of a radio house, which is separated from the OnAir control network and
Livewire network.
Typical servers are :
• DHCP Server
• WINS Server
• DNS Server
• CMS Server, Studer CMS Server
• ProBel Server or third party control systems using ProBel- or Ember pro-
tocol to control OnAir consoles
• CAB Server, radio automation system
• SMB Fileserver may be used as central storage for OnAir console con-
figurations and snapshots
• Central Server, the Studer DNet based PC application for centralized user-
and snapshot management
Workstation are used as :
• User workplace PCs additionally running DNet based PC applications like
the Configuration Tool, Remote Console or the Route1000
• CMS Clients using the CMS protocol to control OnAir consoles
• CAB Clients using the MONIORA protocol to control OnAir consoles
• Management console for remote administration of OnAir consoles using
DNet based PC applications like the Configuration Tool, Remote Console,
Route1000, Software Update Wizard, TreeViewer or System Viewer.
Those applications may be in all Multicast Groups, if they shall access all
OnAir consoles.
• Error logging station using the DNet based PC applications LogScreen. It
is recommended to run the LogScreen in a network.
• SNMP MIB browser
• OnAir Control network
All OnAir consoles shall be located in a separated network.
Using different Multicast Groups for DNet communication, consoles can be
separated from others within the same network.
• Livewire network
Audio over IP streams shall be located in a separate network.
Therefore all Livewire cards in OnAir consoles together with third party
Livewire equipment shall be located here.
A Router is used to connect the different networks.
For proper operation of OnAir consoles the the router must forward the fol-
lowing network traffic:
