The operating concept of the OnAir 3000 is based on the well-accepted and
proven 'Touch'n'Action' user interface philosophy by Studer. It not only
allows users being already familiar with Studer OnAir consoles to get a
very fast start on the OnAir 3000, but also for new users to this concept, as
'Touch'n'Action' is very intuitive and self-explanatory. 'Touch'n'Action'
offers a very quick access to settings and configurations, most important in
live broadcast situations. Touching a parameter symbol of a specific fader
channel in one of the channel screens expands the corresponding page on
the main screen immediately, permitting the desired change or verification
of settings. With the channel screens on the console an immediate overview
of all important channel parameters is given at a glance.
The OnAir 3000 allows installing user accounts and giving specific user
profiles to these users, permitting them to access settings or not, depending
on their skill set or their current task.
The OnAir 3000 has a modular and very open architecture. The desk itself
consists of different modules which can be combined to the customer's needs
and specific requirements of the task to be fulfilled. This desk can then either
be included in custom desk furniture (OnAir 3000 Modulo version) or in a
self-contained, fixed frame for table-top operation. It is also possible to split
a desk into two separate parts that maybe distant from each other locally, but
using the same DSP core and resources. These desks can either work in paral-
lel, e.g. for co-moderation during an outside broadcast, or in split mode where
two programs are produced at the same time (using the same output buses).
Finally it is possible to emulate the user GUI on a separate PC or laptop in
parallel operation. This can be used for service and support purposes, e.g. over
a LAN, for remote operation of the desk or, last but not least, as a redundancy
scenario of the desk itself.
