Requirement Summary

General:
Server:
Management Console
Router:
Switch:
Document generated: 10.10.14
For a useful network speed a 100 Mbit/s switched Ethernet is recommended.
The OnAir 3000 communication is based on TCP/IP.
DHCP
A DHCP server is necessary. The WinCE based components are configured
via DHCP. If access to a file server in another subnet is needed (snapshots
on central file server), the DHCP server must be able to set the WINS server
of the clients.
WINS
A WINS server is recommended if access to a file server is required. If the file
server is within the OnAir 3000 subnet, it is recommended in order to prevent
a lot of broadcast messages on the subnet. If the file server is in a different
subnet, it is necessary to resolve the names of the file server. Access to a file
server in a different subnet will fail without WINS!
File Server
The access to the file server is via SMB, meaning that the file server must
support SMB (all Windows servers do so). It should also be possible to have
a Linux/Unix server with Samba, but this has not been tested.
DNS
The OnAir 3000 system has to know a DNS server for resolving the name of
the NTP server.
A management console (secondary GUI, LogScreen) can be within either the
same or a different subnet. If it is in a different subnet, the broadcast/multicast
messages from the OnAir 3000 subnet must be forwarded to it (not tested!).
If access to a file server is needed, the router must be able to route NetBIOS
messages.
If the management console or other OnAir 3000 components are within a
different subnet, the router must be able to forward UDP broadcast packets
to a specified address or it must forward UDP multicast packets.
It is recommended that the router should support security and network moni-
toring features.
IGMP V3.0 when UDP multicast messages are used. Some switches do not
have an IGMP Querier (e.g. CISCO Catalyst 2950-24). These switches must
be connected to an IGMP router that acts as a Querier.
SW V6.0
OnAir 3000 Digital Mixing Console
